I’m sure by now you have all read about collagen and it’s many benefits – improves skin, hair, and nails. It reduces joint pain, increases the strength of bones, aids with digestion, and boosts metabolism, just to name a few.

But how do we consume collagen?

Natural food sources:

  • Bone Broth
  • Leafy Greens (spinach/kale)
  • Salmon
  • Berries
  • Eggs
  • Tomatoes
  • Garlic
  • Lean, Grass-fed Meat
  • Beans
  • Flaxseed

My friend Jen sent me this great article on all things collagen. I love infographics and it’s full of them! Check it out here.

This article also lists a recipe for Lemon-Raspberry Gelatin Gummies. I decided to give these a try, and actually didn’t love them. For one, I made them way to big! Secondly the seeds from the raspberries were weird to me. Lastly, they weren’t very sweet at all, just kind of blah. So I brainstormed with Jen and she made some suggestions on how to sweeten them up.

Here is our altered recipe:

Watermelon – Strawberry Gelatin Gummies

What you Need:

1 cup Watermelon

1 cup Strawberries

3 tbsp Honey

1/4 Cup Grass-fed Gelatin

Add fruit to blender and blend on high until completely mixed. Pour into a strainer and then into a saucepan.

Add honey and gelatin. On low heat, whisk the mixture for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes thin and everything is well incorporated. Take saucepan off the burner.

Pour into a silicone mold or a small baking dish. Set in the refrigerator for at least an hour to firm up. Remove gummies from molds, or if you used a baking dish, cut gummies into bite-size squares. I used a small silicone ice cub tray and only filled the mixture up half of the way.

Bonus: Jaxon loved these : )

You can also enjoy collagen peptides in your morning coffee, a smoothie, fruit juice, oatmeal, and more. The great thing about the peptides is that they are tasteless, dissolve in liquid, and are easy to digest.

Everyone morning my husband drinks his coffee with a scoop of collagen peptides and vanilla MTC oil. My go-to breakfast is oats with collagen peptides, almond butter, blueberries and a dash of maple syrup. This is my favorite way to get in my collagen. How do you get your collagen?
