It might be because it’s the beginning of the year, and so many people have New Year’s resolutions based around health and fitness, but I have been getting so many questions on Vital Proteins products. What have I tried? What are my favorites? Where should you start if you want to try the products? etc…

So I thought I would write a post about all of that and more.

What is your favorite Vital Proteins product?

Hands down, the collagen peptides! I try to use them every day. The plain collagen peptides are tasteless and odorless and dissolve in liquids. I think they dissolve best in warm liquids. I use them most often in my oats and smoothies. My husband will stir into his coffee. A lot of people also bake with collagen peptides. Vital Proteins also makes Dark Chocolate Blackberry Collagen Peptides that are amazing!

Why do you take collagen?

Collagen has so many benefits so I try to incorporate it into my diet daily! It improves skin, hair, and nails. It reduces joint pain, increases the strength of bones, aids with digestion, and boosts metabolism, just to name a few. When it comes to fitness it aids in recovery and restores collagen that is essential for muscle and ligament health.

It is also a great way to add protein to your diet. One serving has 20g of protein. And this protein, for me, is so much easier on my stomach and to digest. I don’t do well with whey protein, so this is a great alternative. If you are interested in how collagen peptides can help with gut health you can read all about it here.

The fact that it’s dairy free, is huge for me..not to mention it is also gluten free, Paleo friendly, and Whole 30 approved!

How much collagen should you take?

The recommended daily amount is 1-2 scoops of collagen, 1-2 times a day. I try to get in 2 scoops a day total, and have seen great benefits from this amounts. It can be pricey, so another reason why I stick to just 2 scoops a day…first thing I noticed was how fast my nails were growing!

What products have you used and how do you use them?

Collagen Peptides – Like I said before, I use these the most and love them! I use them in oats, smoothies, pancakes, and more.

Dark Chocolate Blackberry Collagen Peptides – These are just like the collagen peptides, but flavored, and the dark chocolate blackberry flavor is great!

Marine Collagen Peptides – These collagen peptides are also just like the original collagen peptides, but they come from a different source, the scales of wild caught snapper, which makes it pescatarian friendly. I’ve used this in the exact same way as the collagen peptides. I tend to use the original collagen peptides more though as they are a little most cost effective.

Collagen Creamer – My husband is obsessed with it! I don’t drink coffee, but he always drinks his coffee black and now he drinks it with the coconut creamer every morning. About 3/4 scoop per cup he just told me. He uses a little handheld mixer to make it more frothy. The coconut flavor is hands down his favorite. (Vital Proteins just added individual packets that are great for travel or to store in your purse.)

Lavender Lemon Beauty Water – This is the one product I don’t love. I couldn’t get it to dissolve in my cold water or ice tea completely. I also didn’t love the flavor. They make other flavors, but I haven’t tried them yet.

Matcha – A great afternoon pick-me-up! If I am dragging by the afternoon, and need to get some work done, this is what I make. Just put a scoop in hot water and mix. I don’t have this every day, but at least a few times a week, and it’s especially nice on a cold winter day.

NEW PRODUCT: Collagen Sports Greens – Okay, these I have not yet tried, but I am so excited to try! I will report back once I do. It has 16g of plant-based protein, and 10g of collagen. It’s Paleo-friendly, dairy-free, soy-free, no added sugar and made with a blend of 17 organic fruits and vegetables!

Spirulina Capsules – I just got these and have only taken them a few times, but will report back!

  • Aids in supporting the body’s natural detoxification system
  • Helps to improve and maintain overall energy levels
  • A natural source of plant protein

Beef Liver Capsules – I just got these and have only taken them a few times, but will report back! I’ve heard they are great for energy levels, and I need to start these consistently ASAP, especially with these grey winter days.

  • Supplement to promote healthy skin, hair and nails
  • Add to improve collagen and protein metabolism
  • Sustain or improve overall energy levels

Beauty Boost Capsules – I just got these and have only taken them a few times, but will report back! A lot of people take biotin for hair and nail growth, and this is full of it!

  • Helps boost your body’s natural production of collagen
  • Supplement for healthier hair, skin, and nails
  • Helps to contribute to a healthy metabolism

Beef Gelatin – I like this product, but don’t use it as much as I thought I would. It dissolves in hot and cold liquids and be used for baking, custards, soups, stews, etc. I last used it to make homemade gummies!
