I recently got back from a girls’ weekend in Scottsdale, AZ and it was seriously the best vacation!! So relaxing, great food, amazing shopping, the list goes on and on…and oh my the recently renovated resort! Not to mention the amazing conversation, no responsibility of kids, no schedule….heaven?! A girls weekend away is sometimes just what you need to recharge.

The Resort:

The Phoenician – it was recently renovated and pretty amazing! We upgraded to a Caisita Suite and it was so nice. It was right outside of the spa and a short walk to the lobby, pool and fitness center. It has a huge patio with a fire pit, and view of the pool/resort and Camelback Mountain.

The fitness center was recently renovated and wow, they did an amazing job. Everything is top of the line! The top floor is the fitness area, and bottom is a tennis/golf shop and also a gaming area for kids…arcade games, big screen tv’s, foosball, ping-pong, etc. It would be a great place for older kids to hang while parents worked out upstairs or played tennis.

The resort did not lack pools! Family pools, splash pads, a water slide, adult pools all complete with cabanas, pool bars and lounge chairs. While we were there it was HOT, so being in the water was a must.

The Spa…the best part of the property, in my opinion. We had the best day here!! We arrived early to get a tour and use the roof top pool. We had lunch and drinks IN the pool, followed by a massage and pedicure. The spa was also just renovated and it just might be the best spa I’ve ever been too. The locker rooms had everything you could need, there was a quite room, a napping room, a sauna, a steam room, indoor hot tub, a fitness center, Dry Bar, and more!

The restaurant we ate at was great too, Mowry & Cotton. (I’ll talk more about that in restaurants, below.) Also The Thirsty Camel is the lobby bar and had amazing cocktails! The concierge was amazing with recommending restaurants and booking us reservations each night for dinners.

The Transportation:

Uber everywhere, especially with no kids and carseats. The hotel was less than 20 minutes from the airport, and then almost every restaurant, the best mall, etc. was only about 4 miles from the resort, or about a $6 Uber ride.

The Restaurants:

Mowry & Cotton – this restaurant was in the hotel, and we had breakfast here two mornings. It was really great! They have brunch on the weekends too with sorbet mimosas! I would highly recommend!

Sweet Potato Hash

The Montauk – so cute, and just like you were on the East Coast. They had great bowls and OMG the best homemade chips and french onion dip. We heard they also have a great brunch.

Olive & Ivy – such a cool vibe, dimly lit and a live DJ made this a really fun place for a late dinner. We shared a ton of small plates, and the assorted bruschetta were my favorite! They also had an ice cream and dessert counter you could take to-go.

The Mission – another dimly lit restaurant, with great Southwest/Mexican food. We did brunch here, and it was great. They have an all-you-can-eat pork bar for tacos, etc. and the table-side guacamole didn’t disappoint!

Mission Huevos Rancheros

Barrio Queen – a fun Mexican restaurant, with amazing margaritas and tacos that was recommended by locals. Oh and how could I forget the roasted corn!

The Local Donut – wow, such good donuts, with a huge variety to choose from!

Things To Do:

The Spa at the Phoenician had to be my favorite thing we did! Even if you aren’t staying at the property you can still book services and spend the day there.

Hike Camelback Mountain. I had to sit this out being pregnant and the 100+ temperatures, but the girls did it, and it sounded amazing…next time for sure!

Fashion Square might be the best shopping ever (and Vegas)! It was every store you could imagine all in one mall. The location is perfect, right next to OldTown Scottsdale, and about a $6 Uber ride from the Phoenician. It had really good dining options too. Plus a lot of the restaurants I mentioned above, you can walk to from this mall.

Tennis, Golf, Pickleball, Workout, and much more, all at the Phoenician. You could honestly do everything right at the resort without leaving.

I would highly recommend a long weekend in Scottsdale. It’s such a good foodie and shopping town, with lots to do, and if you want to just relax, and not do much, you can do that too! I went with girlfriends and it was perfect, but the Phoenician would also be amazing for a honeymoon or getaway with your sweetie, and even a family trip. It was actually really family friendly and even has a kid’s club during the day. Let me know if you have any questions, I’d love to talk Scottsdale with you!

      Hi Robin,

Yes, I would also recommend as a solo trip to relax and unwind. Reading by the pool, visiting the spa, hiking, eating great food, shopping, et. Sounds like the perfect getaway solo!
