I am so excited for Christmas this year! Getting to see the excitement in our three year old’s eyes is just the best! I cannot wait to do all. the. things. this month and I’m most excited for Christmas morning.

We are so blessed and lucky to be able to give him gifts, have great food, spend time with family and friends, decorate, visit Santa, the list goes on and on…but another thing we are focusing on this holiday season is giving back to others who are not as fortunate. We did this last year too, but this year Jaxon understands more, and it’s an important lesson to instill in him.

So I have put together a list of things you can do with your children to give back. Some of these we have already done or plan to do, and others were great ideas from friends:

  • Donate Cans of Food (just purchase a few extra at the store) Jaxon’s school has a food drive for drop off.
  • Giving Tree (our Church has a tree where you can place gifts needed – Jaxon & Grandma did this : )
  • Leave Treats for Your Delivery Men & Women (especially if you shop online like we do!)
  • Leave a Couple Dollars in the Toy Aisle at The Dollar Store
  • Donate Toys That Are No Longer Being Played With
  • Donate Clothes That No Longer Fit
  • Sponsor a Family’s Christmas (you can get friends to pitch in and buy/wrap gifts with you)
  • Gather Old Blankets/Towels For Your Animal Shelter (can also purchase items most in need)
  • Gleaners Food Bank (Families w/ kids 9 and older can volunteer their time.)

If you live in the Indy area, here are some other places looking for volunteers, especially around this time of year, where you and your family can volunteer your time or money to give back to others in need:

It’s what the holidays are all about : )

How are you and your family giving back this holiday season?
