So, so many of you are going somewhere warm for Spring Break…I’m jealous! For most, your vacation is about a month to six weeks away, so I thought for the next few weeks, I would write a blog with some tips for achieving that bikini body…if that is important to you.

First off, here are my thoughts on 6-pack abs.

  • They are not an indicator that you are “healthy”.
  • Diet! Not a million sit-ups, is what is going to allow your abs to show up.
  • It’s hard to sustain a 6-pack for a long amount of time.

With all of that being said, I think if you want to really dial in your nutrition and workouts for an upcoming beach vacation, you totally should! And since we know “abs are made in the kitchen” lets start off there.

Make it your goal between now and Spring Break to cut out a few things…

  1. Processed Foods
  2. Alcohol
  3. Sugar
  4. Dairy

Replace the above with these foods instead…

  1. Vegetables
  2. Lean Proteins (chicken, turkey, fish, etc)
  3. Whole Grains
  4. Fruit

I know that can be easier said than done, but it’s only for about a month leading up to your vacation. You can do it, if it’s important enough to you.

Sugar Free Snacks

A few other things to consider when it comes to your Spring Break “diet”..

  1. Make sure you are staying hydrated and drinking plenty of water. For every pound you weigh, you will want to drink half of that amount in ounces. So say you weigh 200lbs, you will want to drink at least 100oz of water each day…more if you are doing hard workouts.
  2. Fiber, men should aim for 35g and women 25g a day. (Apps like My Fitness Pal will track this for you.) Getting plenty of water and fiber will help keep things moving and help with any bloating you may have.
  3. You don’t want to under eat, or cut calories to severely. This will slow down your metabolism, which is the exact opposite of what you want.

I hope these clean eating tips help are something you can implement now, and maintain for the next month, so you can avoid a last minute crash diet days before your upcoming vacation.
