Kollyns and I went to Aldi this week for the first time in years. I’ve been reading so much about the changes they were making- organic produce, sustainable bags, etc. I’m glad I went. Here is what I found, and my review of our trip!

Gingerbread House Kits
Peanuts
Pretzels
Bananas
Baguette
Salsa
Hummus
Cucumbers
Lunch Packs
Peppers
Brussels Sprouts
Egg Whites
Ground Turkey
Chicken Breasts
Sweet Potatoes
Frozen Vegetables
Orange Juice
The Good:
At Aldi they had so many great snacks! Trail mix that looked amazing and at a great price. All kinds of nuts, dried fruits, pretzels, chips, etc.

All the cheeses and meats and hummus, etc. you could want to make a charcuterie board!

The frozen section…veggies, fruit for smoothies!

Baking..everything from ingredients to cookie cutters.

Christmas! Candy, chocolates, gingerbread houses, decor, advent calendars. They had it all and at a great price.

The chicken..I tried this tonight to make sure it also tasted good, and it did!

Canned Goods…beans, tomatoes, everything I use to make chili and soups.

Kid Snacks…individual bags of chips, cookies, juice boxes for lunches.

They had so many great organic products, that I’ve listed above, at good prices!

The Just Okay:
Produce…at least some of it did not look great…I skipped the strawberries and when I got our sweet potatoes home I had to throw a few out.
Allergen Friendly…they did have an endcap of gluten free foods, but none of the dairy, egg, soy free foods I buy regularly at other stores.
To Know:
Bring a quarter so you can use a shopping cart. Don’t worry, you’ll get it back when you return your cart. It’s nice to leave in there for the next shopper though, tis the season!
Bring your own bags or boxes for your groceries. They do have them for 10 cents, but if you have reusable ones bring them.
Final Thoughts:
The place was packed and only had two lanes open. We waited about 20 minutes to check-out, and during this time I noticed a “same day delivery” sign! That might be the way to go if you are shopping with crazy young kids.

I will definitely go back for the “good” list I made above.
I will try produce again another time, and just heard a rumor that a new Aldi is being built less than 2 miles from my house. So I will definitely check that out.
Do you love Aldi? What do you buy there?

I love ALDI! Their frozen broccoli is great. I usually have good luck with produce but I think it just depends which store you go to. I get coconut milk and almond milk there. Their meat selection is usually good. I like their 93/7 ground beef.
